Facility Inspections
This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its nearly flawless health inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection grades are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's short-term care grade appears to be one of its respectable scores. The nursing home was awarded a grade of B- in this category. In determining our short-term care grades, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is more often than not a meaningful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. Our nursing score assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a relatively low total compared to most facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's weakest category was long-term care, which is the last area we analyzed. We gave it an F in this category. In spite of some decent scores in other categories, this grade is still concerning so we would like to to point it out. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means the facility didn't perform well in our measures relating to patient care. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 74.44934 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is quite a few points lower than the national average. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
