Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this place received a much better grade for long-term care than it did overall. we gave it one of our highest scores in that area with an impressive grade of A. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 97.61904 percent of its patients. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this facility a grade of A. The nursing rating weighs several factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning to the category of short-term care, we gave this nursing home a score of A in that area. Our short-term care grades are thought to be more critical for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

The last category we assessed is inspections. This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, we gave it an F in this category. This dragged down this nursing home's overall grade quite a bit. When a facility has this poor of an inspection rating, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This facility was hit with 7 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this place received significant government fines amounting to more than $100,000. This often suggests that a facility's bad performance has been an issue for multiple years.
