Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this place received a much better grade for long-term care than it did overall. we gave it one of our highest scores in that area with an impressive grade of A-. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 89.808914 percent of its patients. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. The nursing grade features a number of datapoints. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facilities next best category is short-term care. We gave it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. Short-term care grades are often employed to score a facility's rehabilitation services To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The important question is whether this also impacted quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Turning the last category of inspections, this facility did not fare well. Sadly, it received an F in this category. This dragged this facility's overall score down as we heavily weight this category. For places with poor inspection scores, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, we would like to point out that this facility was assessed significant government fines recently totaling over $100,000. This typically suggests that a bad track record has been an issue for multiple years.
