Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this place received a much better grade for long-term care than it did overall. we gave it one of our highest scores in that area with an impressive grade of A-. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 93.650795 percent of its patients. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. The nursing grade features a number of datapoints. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was awarded a strong short-term care grade. As a matter of fact, we gave them a grade of B in that category, which happens to be one of our better. Short-term care grades are often employed to score a facility's rehabilitation services To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Moving on our last category of inspections, this facility received an F here. This score was detrimental to this facility's overall score. With facilities that received this bad of an inspection rating, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, we would like to point out that this facility was assessed significant government fines recently totaling over $100,000. This typically suggests that a bad track record has been an issue for multiple years.
