Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B. Our nursing rating is based on several factors. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this facility also received favorable long-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we gave them one of our higher grades in that category, with a grade of B. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.11504 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we assessed was short-term care. We gave this facility a decent grade in that area, with a grade of B-. While this was not as favorable as some of its other grades, it is nevertheless not a terrible score. With our short-term care category, we seek to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
