Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its decent overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A- for our nursing rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. When computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the number of hours nurses are seeing residents as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Inspections is another category where this nursing home excelled. We gave this nursing home an B+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The third category we analyzed was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B. It actually performed better than most facilities in this area. In our short-term care score, we attempt to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's worst area is long-term care, which is the last area we assessed. For this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 93.84615 percent of its patients. This is a bit below what we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
