Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home really excelled in the area of short-term care. We awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. This really boosted its profile. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. We were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection grades are tied to items found on the a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is far below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the last category, this facility really didn't perform well. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is this nursing home's weakest grade. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 86.75799 percent of its patients. This is several points less than the national average. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
