Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we awarded it an A- for our inspections score. This grade is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had too many deficiencies. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to point out this nursing home's poor long-term care score where it was given a lowly F. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. The nursing rating analyzes many factors, however, the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was short-term care. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in that category. Our short-term care ratings are important for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its weak score in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this nursing home offered far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
