Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we awarded it an A- for our inspections score. This grade is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had too many deficiencies. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to point out this nursing home's poor long-term care score where it was given a lowly F. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is short-term care. This nursing home's was given a low-end short-term care grade where it received an F. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This grade is more often than not a meaningful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The next area we rated was nursing. This nursing home received a poor grade of F in that area. Our nursing score assesses quite a few data points, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
