Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While this facility's overall score was terrible, it fared pretty well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better scores. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this was still a relatively favorable inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to note that this nursing home was given an F for its long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 88.11189 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Another unfortunate development is the F this nursing home was given in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Given its poor rating in this area, we were not shocked to learn that this facility provided far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this nursing home's short-term care score.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last category we analyzed was nursing, in which this nursing home received a rock bottom score in this area also. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is definitely very concerning. The nursing rating considers numerous data points. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averaged just 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This place performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
