Facility Inspections
While we were not complementary of this nursing home's overall performance, it actually received an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this facility only earned a D for its short-term care score, which turns out to be one of its more favorable category grades. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. With a grade of this caliber in this category, we were not surprised to find that this facility was well below average in many staffing areas we looked at. It offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 5.7 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. The nursing rating features several factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next category, this nursing home really didn't perform very well here either. With a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.45652 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
