Facility Inspections
While we gave this nursing home a poor overall grade, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This was the result of the nursing home receiving a decent government inspection report this year. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had a long list of deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still received a relatively favorable report.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that category, we gave this nursing home an C. The nursing grade assesses quite a few datapoints, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most facilities. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility wound up receiving a a terrible score in our long-term care area. It was given an F in this category. For patients in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 97.99427 percent of its patients, which is higher than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next category, this facility didn't fare well in this category either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. As you might expect, we discovered that this facility offers significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average nursing home. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4 percent of its patients returning home.
