Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we were not high on this nursing home's overall performance, it actually received an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care score and that actually ended up being its next most respectable category. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 93.53612 percent of its patients, which is slightly below what we anticipated. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second lowest score is short-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that category. This is a well below average score. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services In order to offer good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Given its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the data we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The next area we scored is nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's weakest area. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. In calculating our nursing scores, we assess both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This place provided only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
