Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing score is largely associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 4.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Out of that total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to offering impressive levels of nursing care, this place was also above average in each of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.
Short-term Care Quality
In the next area we analyzed, this nursing home was given dominant marks in the category of short-term care. As a result, it was given one of our most impressive grades in that area with a grade of of A+. In our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Remarkably, this nursing home provides about 50% more services from physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is a very favorable sign. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in Illinois in this area with 61.6 percent of its residents returning home. For most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
In our last category, this facility also was given an excellent long-term care rating, with a grade of A. This topped off a rare straight A report card. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 95.95376 percent of its patients, which is more than the average nursing home. This facility was also able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 1.36 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
