To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. In the category of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home provided more physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. This is what we like to find when assessing a nursing home in this category. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. On top of excelling in the area of physical therapy, we found that it performed as well as just about any facility in the nation with 61.7 percent of its patients returning home.

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. Our nursing score looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provided 5.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This was one of the more impressive totals we found. In addition, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to providing high levels of care, this nursing home also fared well in many of the quality-based metrics we assessed. For example, in terms of the percentage of its patients sustaining falls leading to serious injury, this place outpaced the national average. This is often a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

This nursing home also received excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our best scores in that area, with an A-. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.

The last area we analyzed ended up being this nursing home's poorest area. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of C for our long-term care category. Our long-term care ratings are more critical for residents in need of more conventional services related to activities of daily living. In addition to considering the impressive level of care provided by aids and other staff at this facility, we also were impressed by the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 94.47005 percent of its patients, which is very respectable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.58 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
