Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this category with an A-. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next highest category ended up being its short-term care score, where it was awarded a grade of B-. Our short-term care grade is generally used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded its third best category score in the area of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of C in this category, which is a respectable grade. Our long-term care scores are based in part on the facility's amount of care. This means a vast scope of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.96907 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's worst area is nursing, which is the final category we analyzed. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area. In spite of multiple solid scores in other categories, this grade is nevertheless of a concern so we felt obligated to make sure you are aware. The nursing rating weighs quite a few data points, however, the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This number is far below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
