Facility Inspections
The main reason this facility received a decent overall grade is its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an A-. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. Our inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a positive grade in short-term care. This facility received a grade of B+ in this area, which is one of our higher grades. Short-term care grades are typically used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. The nursing rating features a host of subcategories. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, which is not an impressive total. Finally, although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated was long-term care. For that category, we awarded this nursing home a C. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 96.4467 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
