Facility Inspections
In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed this well in this area. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more information about this facility. Without having access to deficiency data, it was difficult to fully evaluate this facility in the inspections category.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a score of A- for our short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are generally used to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is this nursing home's poorest category. However, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of C for long-term care. In the category of long-term care, we focus on the amount of services offered by a facility, as opposed to more sophisticated services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is better than most nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations.
