Facility Inspections
In addition to faring well overall, this facility earned an excellent inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest grades in this area with a grade of A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also excelled in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a score of A. Not many facilities received a better grade in this category. Our short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our next category, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The next category we assessed was nursing. This facility was given an impressive nursing grade this year, with a grade of B. While this wasn't quite as impressive as some of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of our more impressive scores for this area. There are several subcategories included in this area. Most of these subcategories reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality measures we assessed. For example, in terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented with better nursing care.
