Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this place overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This score is far better than the nursing home's overall score. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with too many severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this was still a relatively positive report.
Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a middle of the road score in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a C. Our long-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents requiring non-healthcare services such as personal care. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated only 52.797203 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second worse category was short-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average score. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. With a score in this range in this area, we were not surprised to discover this nursing home was well below average in the two key staffing metrics we looked at. The nursing home supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The last category we assessed was nursing, where this nursing home was given a very poor score in this area as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is definitely a major concern. We analyzed the levels of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
