Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also received an impressive short-term care grade. In fact, we gave them a grade of B in this area, which happens to be one of our better. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. We weren't able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our nursing rating analyzes a handful of subcategories, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we assessed is long-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of C in this category. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinates 99.061035 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
