Grade: A

This nursing home excelled in our short-term care category, with an A in this category. This really propped up its overall score. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is generally a reliable assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home received an impressive grade of B+ in nursing. Nursing grades are largely tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This nursing home received its third best category score in inspections. Inspection ratings are based on a facility's recent government inspection reports. We gave this facility a C in this area. Our inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home had 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories G through L. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the last area, this facility was given a grade of C in long-term care, which is generally a decent rating. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home provided the vaccine to just 69.38776 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
