To go along with its relatively modest overall score, we gave this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than its overall grade. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

This nursing home also received a strong grade in our nursing category. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this area. The nursing rating includes many components, but the main consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as predictive indicators of the quality of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

This facilities third most favorable category is short-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this area. In our short-term care grade, we seek to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 21.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.

Switching gears to our final area, we gave this facility a D in our long-term care category. This was the nursing home's weakest category score. Sadly, this grade pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to a certain degree. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.63 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
