Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for our long-term care rating. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. This facility clearly fared favorably enough in these measures to earn an impressive grade in this area.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Our nursing grade analyzes quite a few factors, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 5.7 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the more impressive totals in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the more skilled levels of nurses. We were very impressed by these figures. On top of offering high levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in the country when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is short-term care, in which this facility was given a grade of B. This actually was this facility's least impressive area. A facility is doing something right when their weakest score still beats out most nursing homes. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered substantially more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
