Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Even though we graded this facility very poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing score this year. We gave it a B- in that area. Nursing grades are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Surprisingly, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for its long-term care rating, which really isn't a bad grade. With our long-term care category, we focus on the amount of services offered by a nursing home, as well as a few qualitative statistics. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 97.70992 percent of its residents. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

This place received a lowly F for its inspection rating. For facilities with poor inspection ratings, you should scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we scored is short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Based on its weak rating in this category, we weren't stunned to find this nursing home provides significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
