Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a quality facility overall, this place especially excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Not many nursing homes fared better in this area. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among this facility's other achievements is its high-end long-term care score. We gave them one of our strongest grades in that area, with a score of A-. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.66499 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we assessed is short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. It does not appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Our final area is nursing, in which we gave this facility a B- in this area. The nursing rating analyzes many data points, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this nursing home got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this area. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of moving a patient more often.
