On top of being a quality facility overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Not many facilities performed better in this category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility an B+. In determining a facility's nursing score, we assess the number of hours nurses are seeing patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 3.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility's third most favorable area is its short-term care grade, where it was given a grade of B-. In determining these short-term care scores, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. It performed much better in this metric. We found it was above average in this metric with 55.6 percent of its residents returning home.

The final area we rated was long-term care. For this category, we gave this facility a grade of C. Long-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of care. This means a broad range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated just 56.154907 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 1.5 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
