Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a strong long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area with a score of B+. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.63866 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not take any chances. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The third area we assessed was short-term care. This nursing home was awarded a very positive short-term care score, with a B+ in this category. Short-term care grades are generally employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. We were not able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated was nursing. For that category, we awarded this facility a grade of C. The nursing score weighs several subcategories, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided just 0 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, our nursing scores also factor in some quality-focused measures. We look at the percentage of patients who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these data points are measures of the quality of nursing care, since better care tends to reduce these issues.
