Facility Inspections
We would like to point out that this nursing home's inspection rating exceeded its overall grade. This facility earned a B+ in this category, which is a quality score. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had favorable view of this facility's recent inspections.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a decent grade in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. The nursing score consists of a handful of factors, but the primary one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this area.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we graded was long-term care, which proved to be a weak link for this nursing home. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D for the area of long-term care. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 68.9441 percent of its residents, which is somewhat alarming. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
