Facility Inspections
This facility received a quality overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to point out its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area tend to have few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Nursing grades are largely tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to an additional strength for this facility, we gave them one of our better grades in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. Our short-term care grades are thought to be most important for people needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the final area, we awarded this facility a grade of D for our long-term care category. This is the nursing home's least impressive category score. Of course, this category pulled down the nursing home's overall grade a bit. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 86.95652 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be several points less than average. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
