Registered Staff Hours
Although we did not rate this facility highly overall, we want to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Our inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating is largely associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's third best area turned out to be its short-term care score, where it was given a grade of C. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. It provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we scored was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is a rock bottom grade. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 95.97701 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
