Although we gave this place a bad overall score, we awarded it a fairly respectable grade in the area of inspections, where we gave it a grade of B-. This was better than its other categories. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. This facilities second best category was long-term care. We gave it a grade of B- in this category. This is essentially a middle of the pack score in this category. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.58848 percent of its residents. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The next area we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of C in this area. In forming our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Switching gears to our next category, this nursing home really didn't fare very well in this category either. With a poor grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our nursing score analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provided only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. On top of receiving below average scores for nursing hours, this facility was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and found this facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this metric.
