Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A+. There are numerous datapoints included in this grade. Most of these datapoints are tied to nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning a resident more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on our third category, we awarded this nursing home a score of A for its long-term care grade. This is a superb rating. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 99.557526 percent of its residents. This is a proven method to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of A-. This topped off a very favorable profile. Few facilities received an A- or higher in all four categories. Our short-term care ratings are vital for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
