Facility Inspections
While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable scores in that category with a B+. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to find that this facility earned a somewhat respectable long-term care grade in our assessment. We awarded it a grade of C in this area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This facility keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This category is often a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. With a score of this caliber for this category, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home was below average in two of the key staffing areas we focus on. In fact, it supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The final category we looked at was nursing, where this facility was given a rock bottom grade in this area as well. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. Our nursing score assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility offered just 0.1 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This statistic is quite a bit below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
