Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Nursing grades are primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is well below average. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home's next best category was inspections, but even there it received a D. This is still a well below average grade. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. Generally, you should be especially cautious when considering a facility with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a risk to patient health or safety. Lastly, we want to point out that this place received large government fines recently amounting to more than $100,000. This typically signifies that a bad performance spanned more than one year.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not an impressive grade. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. With a grade of this caliber in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this facility was below average in the two key staffing metrics we assess. The facility supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we scored is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a very poor score. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities offer. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this nursing home gave the vaccine to a relatively low 90.27237 percent of its patients, which is several points lower than we expected. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
