In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections are nearly perfect. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. A deficiency-free inspection report is what we look for.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it was awarded a strong short-term care score. In fact, short-term care ended up being its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be more meaningful for patients needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This proved to be a real strength for this nursing home. It outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country with 65.2 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. There are a host of datapoints within this area. Most of these datapoints relate to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home offers extremely high levels of nursing care, averaging 4.1 hours per patient each day. This is well above average. Lastly, this facility performed well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. For example, in terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average. This is often an accurate indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented with better nursing care.

The last area we rated was this nursing home's weakest area. However, even in its weakest link we still gave it a respectable grade of B- for long-term care. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the data points we considered after this facility's quality nursing hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.31544 percent of its residents. This is a proven method to minimize negative health outcomes for the aged 65 and up population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
