In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the area of long-term care. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing score analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place California in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a resident more frequently.

Adding yet another impressive category grade, we gave this facility a grade of B+ for our inspections category. Our inspection scores are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Although this was not as good as a few of its other category grades, this is still a respectable score in this area. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.
