Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged just 2.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home was above average in two of the major datapoints we considered, with good scores for avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
In our next category, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the category of long-term care. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility didn't perform well in our measures relating to patient care. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated only 64.82758 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at limiting hospitalizations. While it had 2 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric wasn't bad since it had some more complicated patients. This is its best score in this category
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
