Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to performing well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. Therefore, it received one of our best scores in that category with an A+. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. The nursing rating analyzes several datapoints, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a patient more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also want to point out the fact that this facility was given a top-shelf grade of A- in our short-term care category. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most meaningful for those requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Switching gears to our next category, this nursing home also performed admirably in our long-term care category. We gave it a grade of B+ in that area. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 96.799995 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
