Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
An additional reason we assessed this nursing home so highly is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is flat out as dominant as it gets in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. The nursing score is based on several factors, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
In our last area, this facility also received an excellent short-term care grade, with an A. This completed a straight A report card. Our short-term care scores are meaningful for patients requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
