On top of performing well overall, this facility also received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without having access to all of the deficiency related data for this nursing home, it is difficult to evaluate the place in this area.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A. The nursing score includes several factors. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This facility provided 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning a patient more frequently.

The third category we looked at was short-term care. Contributing to its impressive profile, this facility also performed well in this category. In fact, it received a grade of of A in the category. Short-term care grades are typically employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country with 59.8 percent of its patients returning home.

The final category we scored ended up being this nursing home's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- for our long-term care category. In forming our long-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. One of the data points we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 97.46835 percent of its patients. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.23 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was better than most nursing homes due to it having more complex patients.
