Facility Inspections
On top of performing well overall, this nursing home also received a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received a very impressive short-term care grade. Indeed, this turned out to be this facility's second strongest category score. In that area, we awarded this facility a score of A-. Our short-term care grades are presumably most meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also was given favorable long-term care scores this year. In fact, we gave it one of our higher scores in that category, with a score of B. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final area we assessed is nursing, in which this facility was awarded a grade of B-. Even though this is its weakest category grade, this is still not the end of the world. When determining our nursing grades, we look at both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, our nursing grades also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses to assist its patients.
