Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Another one of this facility's more favorable category grades was in the area of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is better than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this place had 2.14 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. There are many subcategories included in this category. Many of these datapoints relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered only 3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place had really bad marks in several of the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing scores. For starters, we looked at the percentage of residents sustaining falls which led to serious injury. This facility was at more than 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is concerning in light of the fact that so many falls could likely be prevented with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of receiving a poor nursing rating.

Turning to our final category, this nursing home really did not fare well in this area either. With a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our short-term care scores are vital for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its score in this category, we were not stunned to find that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 33.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
