In addition to receiving a strong overall score, this facility also earned an elite short-term care grade. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of A. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This category is considered to be a fair assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the nursing home. This place fared as well as just about any nursing home in Ohio with 61.4 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, at most facilities, fewer than half of their short-stay patients are able to return home.

In addition, this nursing home earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with a grade of A. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. It doesn't appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without all of the deficiency related data, it was difficult to fully evaluate the place in the area of inspections.

Among this facility's other strengths is its elite nursing grade. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of A-. The nursing grade analyzes several factors, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place boasts an impressive 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident each day, of which more than an hour of these were provided by registered nurses. This is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. Finally, this facility was also above average in each of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. It performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Turning to the last category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D in our long-term care category. This was the facility's worst category grade. Nevertheless, you should not over-emphasize one poor category. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. After assessing nursing hours and other staffing provided by this facility, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. Due to its grade in this category, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that this nursing home received respectable marks in both of these subcategories. Indeed, this facility vaccinated 99.49495 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this facility also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
