Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled at short-term care. We gave it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. This really salvaged its overall profile. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is generally a meaningful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility also performed well in the area of inspections. It received one of our best scores in that area with a score of B+. Our inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspections. Facilities that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. We would like to have more information about this facility. Without all of the deficiency data, it was difficult to grade this nursing home in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. In computing our nursing scores, we analyze both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This facility averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is well below average. Finally, while this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed well in this metric.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we rated was long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest area. We gave it a lowly F for this area, which is certainly very concerning. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated just 80.67633 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
