Facility Inspections
While we were not complementary of this nursing home's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that area with a B+. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid facilities that had too many severe deficiencies. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating is based on several datapoints. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a respectable grade in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home gave the vaccine to only 66.97531 percent of its residents. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was short-term care, where this facility received a very poor score in this area as well. Sadly, it received an F for this area, which is obviously a major concern. Our short-term care scores are vital for residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
