Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home received an excellent inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our best grades in that area with an A. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor dings aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility Ohio in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a patient more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also was awarded favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our stronger scores in that category, with a grade of B+. In crafting our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. We were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we looked at was long-term care. In this area, we gave this facility a strong grade of B. Facilities that excel in this category tend to provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.55947 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
