Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in this category with a grade of A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This place received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's higher category grades came in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of C. Our nursing score analyzes the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures. While this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this subcategory. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning a patient more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we looked at is long-term care, which is this facility's worst area. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit worried that this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 83.16327 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
