In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ short-term care grade. In calculating these short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. The next category we assessed proved to be this nursing home's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still gave it a respectable grade of C for long-term care. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
