Short-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ short-term care grade. In calculating these short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 6.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing scores are mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a resident more often.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a B for its inspections score. This is an above average grade in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed proved to be this nursing home's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still gave it a respectable grade of C for long-term care. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
