Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
We really were not high on this facility's overall score or its category scores. We gave it just a D for our short-term care grade and that sadly turned out to be its highest score. In crafting these short-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. As you might expect, we found that this place offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Facility Inspections
We wanted to point out that this nursing home earned an F for its inspection grade. An F in this category is particularly troublesome because it typically points to red flags on the facility's government inspection reports. When a nursing home has this bad of an inspection rating, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to patient safety. This particular facility had a category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more severe categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies identified by CMS had the potential to cause actual harm to residents. Finally, we also want to point out that this nursing home was assessed large government fines in recent years of over $50,000. This often indicates that CMS inspectors became frustrated after several years of failed government inspections.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses were with residents, in determining our score in this category. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed was long-term care, where this nursing home was given a rock bottom grade in this category also. It received a lowly F for this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category likely don't provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 85.539215 percent of its residents, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
