Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first-rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled at short-term care, where it received a grade of A+. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that returned home from this facility. This place fared as well as just about any facility in the country in this area with 77.2 percent of its patients returning home.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also earned an A+ inspection score, making it one of the rare places to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. This grade is based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be relatively insignificant. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our nursing score weighs a number of factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This particular nursing home provided 4.8 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This was one of the better figures we found. In addition, we found that a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this nursing home was also above average in each of the major quality measures we looked at in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These datapoints are generally reliable measures of the quality of nursing care a facility offers.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last area, this facility was awarded a strong long-term care grade. While this isn't nearly as elite as many of its other scores, this is still one of the more impressive grades we offer. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. After assessing the significant amount of nursing hours and other staffing provided by this nursing home, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 98.79518 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. This combination proved to be successful as this facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 1.5 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
