This nursing home's best category grade came in the category of government inspections. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this area. Inspection grades are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

This nursing home's short-term care grade ended up being one of its better grades. The nursing home was given a B- in this area. Short-term care grades are commonly used to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of D. When calculating our nursing grades, we weigh both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we rated is long-term care, was this facility's weakest area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that category. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.85535 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
