Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this ended up being a strong nursing home is that it earned an impressive inspection rating. Inspections turned out to be its best category. In that area, we awarded it an A. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

To complement its strong performance in other categories, we gave this nursing home an B for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade is largely associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of short-term care, where it was awarded a score of B. It outpaced most facilities in this area. In determining our short-term care ratings, we size up the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is typically a meaningful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we assessed is long-term care. We gave this facility one of our higher scores in this category, with a grade of B. This facility ended up being very solid in all areas we analyzed. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 97.65766 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
