Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall grade. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's short-term care grade appears to be one of its more favorable features. The nursing home was given a C in this area. Our short-term care grades are believed to be most critical for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's second least favorable score is long-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that category. This is a well below average grade. For patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 94.776115 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded was nursing. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. There are several factors within this area. Most of these criteria reflect staffing levels. This place offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
